Sampler of Deed Plotting
Below is a sampler of several deeds and state surveys that I've plotted with
Deed Mapper. The first column is the reference
and the second is the modern view. The third column is an aerial photo of the area showing
the topology. Not all pictures exist (and I'll occastionally add updates). If you want
additional information on these places, warrants, etc, send me email.
Note that in some cases the person owned multiple tracts at different times and they
may not have resided on these specific land tracts. There are also often deeds for
small land fragments that changed hand from time-to-time, and these are not
shown.
In each case, I began using a variety of backgrounds (always starting with a standard
topographical map) for the connecting the surveys and deeds and then changing to
other backgrounds to show a more modern view. The county GIS and 1930's aerial photos
are the best starting points in most cases. When the land has changed purpose over
many years, the old aerial photos are best.
